From the Edo era, Kiyomizu-yaki has produced a variety of pottery with brilliant colors and delicate designs. Since Kyoto has been a capital for many years, tea men, shoguns, miya houses, samurai, etc. were using this pottery, Kiyomizu-yaki has a decorative high-class orientation and features and designs are also like Kyoto. In Kyoto it is almost impossible to take ceramic clay as a raw material so pottery ordered the soil from other production areas, blended independently. In other words, , since Kiyomizu-yaki has no fixed soil or glaze / technique like pottery in other pottery origin, a wide variety of works were created with free thought without being bound by fixed ideas.
