Yaku Islands are an island of a natural heritage famous also for Yaku cedar trees including the straw-rope pattern Japan cedar called age-of-a-tree 7200. As for the climate of this island, from the subtropical zone to the subarctic zone is included. You can the climate of Kyushu to Hokkaido on one island. . A unique ecosystem, the peculiar plant which grows wild only in Yaku Islands, the plant that southern limit Yakushima, the plant that northern limit Yakushima. Since there are these all, it is also called "Eastern Galapagos." Yaku Islands were registered into world heritage in 1993.
